It’s just a few days before your trip, and the excitement’s hitting hard! I totally get it — I still remember my first time traveling on a long-anticipated road trip with friends. I was so hyped I couldn’t even sleep that night, haha.
Now it’s packing time!
When it comes to packing, your destination and type of trip really shape what goes into your bag. But let’s be real — every traveler has been guilty of overpacking at some point. Maybe it’s those extra shoes “just in case,” that fancy fur jacket, or an extra iPad you’ll probably never use. All those little extras? They add up fast — and nothing kills travel vibes quicker than dragging around heavy luggage.
When it comes to traveling, a checklist is your best friend. It keeps you organized and helps you stay on top of what’s actually needed for your kind of trip. What’s worked for me over time is writing everything down — and trust me, that list always starts long (like, “I might move abroad” long haha).
Then I split it into two: must-haves and nice-to-haves. It helps me narrow things down to the real essentials and kills that wild urge to overpack. Because let’s be honest — we’ve all been there, cramming in extra shoes or outfits we never touch.
Sometimes we totally forget that laundry services exist where i’m going to ( don’t judge me haha). I’d pack like I was never going to wash a single thing. Turns out, you can just take a few outfits, use laundry, and rotate them like a pro.
Anyway! For those waiting for me to stop rambling — here’s my suggested packing list below. Use it as a guide and tweak it to fit your own trip.
- Tech & Accessories
- Laptop
- Earphones or headphones
- Universal Charger
- Portable Power Bank
- Camera (That’s if you prefer a camera to your smartphone)
- Kindle Reader
2. Clothing Essentials

- 2 Pair of shorts
- 1 Pair of Jeans
- 1 Pair of Flip flops
- 1 Sneakers
- 1 Bathing Suit
- 1 Light Sweater
- 1 Dress (girls) and 1 Dress Shirt (guys)
- 5 Pair of Socks

P.S: These are all dependent on your destinations and time of travel, so there will be different articles to help you cover that. Also, I’m a big fan of Unbound Merino because of how comfortable it feels wearing their outfits.
3. Toiletries & Health Essentials
- 1 Toothbrush + toothpaste
- 1 Soap/shower gel + deodorant (You can always get more depending on the duration of your stay)
- 1 Towel (very important)

- 1 Dental floss
4. Adventure & Safari Gear

- Daypack for hikes and excursions
5. Miscellaneous

Pro tip: Go for a smaller backpack. Trust me, it’ll save you from impulsive packing sprees. The human brain has this sneaky habit of wanting to fill empty space — and that’s exactly how overpacking happens. So, do yourself a favor and pack smart by choosing a smaller bag.

But this list has all the core essentials to get you started.
