If someone told you Lagos had a mini-jungle where the only traffic jam you’ll meet is a tortoise casually crossing the path, would you believe them?
Same. I always thought Lagos was all nightlife, beaches, and loud energy — the city that never sleeps but somehow still complains about being tired.
Then I visited LUFASI Nature Park.
Tucked along the Lekki–Epe Expressway is a calm green space called LUFASI — Lekki Urban Forestry and Animal Shelter Initiative. It’s basically Lagos minding its business and touching grass. Think of it as the city’s quiet rebellion against concrete — a 20-hectare nature escape where trees outnumber buildings and the loudest sound isn’t a generator backup alarm… it’s birds. Real birds. Singing like they’re auditioning for a worship team.
One minute you’re in Lagos traffic, the next you’re surrounded by tall trees, a peaceful lake, and animals living their soft life.
And honestly?
It feels like discovering a secret the city has been hiding.
What is Lufasi Nature Park all about?

I know — you’re probably wondering, “What exactly is LUFASI Nature Park?”
Trust me, I asked myself the same question before I showed up.
LUFASI Nature Park is an eco-friendly nature reserve and animal shelter created to protect green spaces, rescue animals, and give humans — like you and me — a peaceful place to just breathe. It’s the kind of place that doesn’t try too hard to impress you, yet the moment you step through the gate, something in you instantly relaxes.
Nothing loud.
Nothing flashy.
Just trees, fresh air, birds, and quiet.
Before visiting, I never considered myself a “nature person.” I’ve always been a city girl — coffee, deadlines, playlists, repeat. But walking through LUFASI changed something. I realized that maybe we’re all a little disconnected from nature, not because we don’t care, but because we’ve never really had access to spaces like this.
There’s something grounding about being surrounded by tall trees and hearing actual silence.
It reminds you that peace doesn’t always require a plane ticket.
That’s the beauty of LUFASI:
You don’t have to leave Lagos to escape Lagos.
You get a nature break.
You get fresh air.
And you get to feel your body slow down for once.
If you’re craving calm — even for just a few hours — this is your sign.
Things to Do at LUFASI (aka the “This place shocked me” list)

This isn’t one of those parks where you walk around for 7 minutes and suddenly you’re back at the gate.
I spent almost four hours here, just soaking in nature, breathing clean air, and minding my business. LUFASI isn’t a park — it’s an experience.
Here’s what you’ll find inside:
Forest Trails
This is where your inner explorer wakes up.
Tall Ekki trees line the path, the air feels cooler, and the birds? They sing like they’re auditioning for choir president.
Perfect for:
- Picnics under the trees
- “Main character energy” walking shots
- Or just thinking about your life choices (quietly… in nature)
Lake Moses & Lake Nora
Two calm, reflective lakes that look straight out of a postcard.
Golden hour hits these lakes differently — it’s that soft, warm light that makes every picture look like you know what you’re doing. This was one of my favorite places in the park.
You get this peaceful, cinematic vibe you don’t usually find in Lagos.
Animal Sanctuary
LUFASI rescues injured animals and gives them a safe home.
During the guided tour, you’ll meet some of them — monkeys, tortoises, donkeys — and learn their names and stories.
It’s not just a park showing off animals.
It’s conservation with heart.
Picnic + Chill Zones
This is where peace lives.
There are shaded sitting areas, playgrounds, and quiet corners perfect for eating, reading, or doing absolutely nothing.
No Lagos noise.
No vendors forcing sunglasses into your face.
Just silence… and the wind.
Sports Area
Volleyball courts. Table tennis. Space to run or stretch.
Yes, you can be outdoorsy and sporty.
Balance is the whole point.
Best Spots for Photos / Reels
- The wooden bridge over Lake Nora
- The bamboo tunnel trail
- Forest walkway with sun rays
- By the animal sanctuary fences (keep zoom respectful)
- Swing / nature seating area
This park was not created for content creators…
But content creators will thrive here.

If you love quiet places, slow moments, and nature that actually feels like nature, then LUFASI is your spot. It’s perfect for solo female travelers who just want somewhere safe and peaceful, creatives looking for a fresh backdrop, nature lovers who enjoy trees more than loud music, and families searching for a budget-friendly Saturday escape.
Before you go, just know: wear sneakers because the ground is not “Ikeja City Mall smooth,” pack your own snacks because this isn’t the place for fancy restaurants, and remember that LUFASI is about conservation, not aesthetics—so don’t expect luxury. If you’re planning to shoot content, it’s best to call ahead about camera rules.
Pack the essentials—water bottle, sunscreen, bug spray, a picnic blanket, power bank, and comfortable shoes—and maybe a little bit of patience, because the tortoises move like they pay rent monthly and don’t owe anybody urgency.
If your idea of relaxation is silence, trees, and a slow afternoon, LUFASI will feel like a breath of fresh air.

Lagos can be… a lot.
The noise, the traffic, the constant rush to “do more, be more, get more done.” It’s like the city runs on caffeine and pressure.
But at LUFASI Nature Park, everything slows down.
One minute you’re on the Lekki-Epe expressway dodging buses, and the next, you’re standing by a quiet lake, listening to water and birds instead of horns and generators. For the first time in a long time, your mind isn’t multitasking — it’s just breathing.
And that’s when it hits you:
You don’t have to leave Nigeria to disconnect.
Sometimes, peace is just a short drive away.
If you’re craving a breather — from work, from Lagos, or just from life — put LUFASI on your list.
Nature resets you.
Lagos speeds you up.
LUFASI balances you right in the middle.
